# Payments (/en/businesses/payments)

The **Payments** page lists everything customers pay you through Thril online: a booking made in the app, a class paid on the web, a membership renewal, an invoice paid through its link. It also lists the payments staff record in the dashboard, such as a booking paid on site outside the POS. Each payment shows what was bought, how it was paid and whether any of it was refunded. Filter by customer or date to check whether someone has paid.

Sales at the [POS](/businesses/pos) are under **POS payments**. The money that reached your bank is on [Stripe payouts](/businesses/payments/stripe).

## How customers pay online [#how-customers-pay-online]

Online payments go through your company's Stripe account, which you verify when you set up Thril. See [Stripe verification](/businesses/getting-started#stripe-verification).

Customers see the payment methods Stripe offers in their country: cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and local methods such as MobilePay, Klarna and online bank payments. A recurring membership renews automatically from a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. The other methods need the customer to approve each payment.

Customers can also pay with:

- employee benefits such as Epassi or Edenred, on the products you allow. See [Employee benefits](/businesses/integrations/employee-benefits);
- your venue's [credits](/businesses/shop/credits) and Thril tokens;
- a [session card](/businesses/shop/session-cards) that covers what they book;
- a [gift card](/businesses/shop/gift-cards) or a [promo code](/businesses/marketing/promo-codes), typed in when paying.

## Credits, tokens and your net amount [#credits-tokens-and-your-net-amount]

One payment can combine several ways of paying. **Paid with credits** is the share paid with your venue's credits. **Paid with tokens** is the share paid with Thril tokens, Thril's own credits that customers spend at any venue on Thril. Thril pays you their value through Stripe, less its commission. The rest went through a payment method: a card, MobilePay, Klarna or an online bank payment through Stripe, or an employee benefit such as Epassi or Edenred.

**Net amount** is what the payment leaves you after VAT and Thril's commission.

With Netvisor connected, a **Ledger account** column shows the account each item was sold under. See [Bookkeeping vouchers and accounts](/businesses/integrations/netvisor/bookkeeping).

## Refunds [#refunds]

You refund where the sale is: on the [reservation](/businesses/reservations/managing-reservations#refunds-when-a-booking-is-sold-or-cancelled), the [event participant](/businesses/events/participants#refunding-or-removing-a-participant), the [course participant](/businesses/courses/payments#refunds-when-a-participant-leaves), the [service booking](/businesses/services#booking-rescheduling-and-charging-for-a-customer) or the [league participant](/businesses/leagues#fees-and-refunds).

A product bought online, such as a session card, a credit top-up, a gift card or a shop product, is refunded from the customer's **Online payments** tab with **Refund payment**. A refunded gift card stops working, and the refund pays back what is left on it. See [Gift cards](/businesses/shop/gift-cards#selling-and-spending-at-the-pos). A refunded session card or top-up stays with the customer until you take it back with **Revoke session card** on the card, or by subtracting the credits on the customer's **Credits** tab. See [Changing one customer's card](/businesses/shop/session-cards/managing-cards#changing-one-customers-card).

Every refund asks for a **Preferred refund method**:

| Method | Where the money goes |
| ---------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Handle automatically via Thril** | To the original payment method if the customer prefers that and the payment allows it, otherwise as credits. |
| **Via original payment method** | Back to the card or the bank for payments through Stripe and Stebby. Other payments are refunded as credits. |
| **Refund as credits** | Credits at your venue. The money stays with you until the customer spends them, with no refund fee. |
| **Handle manually** | Thril records the refund, and you hand the money back yourself, in cash or as a bank transfer. |
| **Do not refund** | Nothing goes back. |

Credits and session card uses on the payment go back to the customer's credits and card with every method except **Do not refund**. Thril tokens go back as tokens. A payment made without a Thril account is refunded with **Handle manually**.

### The refund fee in Finland [#the-refund-fee-in-finland]

For a company in Finland, a card payment refunded to the card can carry a refund fee, which comes off what the customer gets back. Customers see the fee before they cancel a booking themselves. Refunds as credits or handled manually carry no fee.

## Exporting payments [#exporting-payments]

**Export results** emails the payments that match your filters as a CSV to the address in **Send export to**, or to your venue's email if you leave it empty. It is the month-end file for your accountant.

The CSV has one row per payment, with the VAT and Thril's commission in their own columns. Its amount is what the customer paid by card, bank or benefit and with Thril tokens. To match your bank account, use the payout report. See [Payments export and payouts](/businesses/payments/stripe#payments-export-and-payouts).

## The VAT report [#the-vat-report]

**Generate VAT report** emails a PDF for a date range, for the current venue or for every venue in your company. It has three tables:

- **Payments** lists payments and refunds by VAT rate, POS sales included.
- **Invoices** lists the VAT of invoices and credit notes by invoicing date.
- **Total VAT** adds the two. Its **Net VAT** column is the figure for your VAT return.

Unsent invoices are included. If you change or delete one, a report you make again later shows the new amounts.
