# Resources (/en/businesses/reservations/resources)

A resource is anything a customer books time on: a padel court, a golf simulator, a yoga studio, a sauna, a gym floor, a fatbike. Its setup decides what a customer picks when they book, how many people can book the same time, and who pays what.

## Which setup fits your space [#which-setup-fits-your-space]

| If you have… | Set it up as | Why |
| --------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Padel or tennis courts | One resource per court, **One booking at a time** | One group books the whole court for the time. |
| A gym floor, climbing wall or sauna | **Several spots**, with **How many spots** | Customers book the same time until the spots run out. |
| A drop-in space where nobody counts heads | **No limit** | The time never fills up. |
| A sauna where people arrive and leave freely | Spots with **Customers stay as long as they like** | Customers pick an arrival time only. |
| Forty identical fatbikes or four simulators | A resource pool | Customers pick a time, and Thril picks the unit. |
| One court that splits into two half courts | Three resources with shared physical space | A booking of the full court takes both halves, and either half takes the full court. |
| A darts board or bowling lane priced per head | **Price is per participant** | Every player pays the same price. |

A resource has a sport and, if you like, a category such as "Premium courts". A resource without a sport is a general bookable space, such as a studio or a meeting room. [Open reservations](/businesses/reservations/open-reservations) need a resource with a sport.

## Capacity: one booking or several spots [#capacity-one-booking-or-several-spots]

**Capacity** decides how many customers can book the same time.

- **One booking at a time.** The default, for courts, tables, lanes and simulators.
- **Several spots.** Each booking takes a spot. You set how many spots there are, how many one customer can take, and whether customers see how many are left or only free or full.
- **No limit.** Customers book a time and nobody counts.

With spots or no limit, **Customers stay as long as they like** lets customers pick only an arrival time. Their spot opens for the next customer after the shortest booking length in your price list. Plan the number of spots around that.

The price of a spot booking is per spot, and a membership that covers the resource covers every spot in the booking.

---

## Pools and shared spaces [#pools-and-shared-spaces]

A **resource pool** makes resources interchangeable. The customer books the pool's name, and Thril gives them a free resource from it. A single simulator in a pool of its own lets customers go straight to booking without choosing "Simulator 1".

A pool shows the price of its cheapest free resource. Give every resource in a pool the same pricing rules.

**This resource shares physical space with** links resources that cannot be in use at the same time. Link a full court with each of its halves. A booking of the full court then blocks both halves, a booking of either half blocks the full court, and the two halves stay bookable side by side.

---

## Pricing per booking or per participant [#pricing-per-booking-or-per-participant]

The pricing rule normally sets the price of the whole booking, and the players can share it. With **Price is per participant** under **Pricing & taxes**, it sets what one player pays.

On such a resource every player pays that price, less their own discount. A player can leave until the cancellation deadline and gets a paid share back. When the reservation has ended, players who still owe get a push notification asking them to pay.

A resource can also have its own VAT rate.

---

## What customers can do on each resource [#what-customers-can-do-on-each-resource]

**Customer booking** on a resource overrides your venue's [booking rules](/businesses/reservations/booking-rules) there. A resource can be for staff bookings only, have its own cancellation rules or minimum advance time, skip resale, or sell slots that have already started. Read more in [Selling more time](/businesses/reservations/selling-more-time).

A resource can also open doors, locks and lights for the booking. Read more in [Access control](/businesses/integrations/access-control).

---

## Blockers [#blockers]

A blocker keeps a resource off sale for a time you choose: maintenance, a tournament, a private event. It can be a single one or recurring, and it can cover linked half courts and full courts. Move any reservations out of the blocker's time yourself.

To move several blockers at once, select them in the list and change their times together.

---

## Order and status [#order-and-status]

You choose the order in which customers see your sports and resource categories.

An **Inactive** resource leaves your calendar and booking until you make it **Active** again. Use it for a court that is gone for good or under long renovation, after moving its reservations elsewhere. A closure with an end date is a blocker.
