# Employees, working hours and staff profiles (/en/businesses/services/employees)

An employee in Thril is a person who works with customers: a personal trainer, a pilates instructor, a tennis coach, a physiotherapist. The same employee gives your [services](/businesses/services), instructs events, classes and courses, and has a calendar of their own. On your venue page, a new customer sees who they will meet before they book.

Employees belong to your company. A trainer who splits the week between two of your venues is one employee with working hours at both, and a booking at either venue takes the time away from both.

## Working hours [#working-hours]

Customers book an employee inside their working hours, which two things set:

- **Availability schedules** are recurring hours: the venues, a date range, the days of the week and a time range. An employee can have several, such as one per venue or one per season.
- **Availability blockers** take time away: a summer holiday, a training course, a weekly team meeting. A blocker happens once or repeats every few days, weeks or months, at one or more venues. Move any bookings already in a new blocker's time yourself.

Inside those hours, the employee is busy whenever they have a service booking or instruct an event, at any venue of your company. Customers see only the free time.

Working hours limit service bookings only. When you make an employee the instructor of an event or a course, check their hours in the employee calendar.

Each employee also has **Service booking settings**: a **Lead time** and a **Cancellation deadline** for every service they give. When the service has its own, the stricter of the two counts, also for bookings already made.

## The employee calendar [#the-employee-calendar]

The **Employee calendar** shows one employee's working hours, blockers, service bookings and the events they instruct. Staff book services and add blockers there.

An employee's **Calendar feed** is a personal link to subscribe to from their own calendar app, with the classes they instruct and their confirmed service bookings. It also suits employees who don't sign in to Thril. Resetting the link stops the old subscriptions.

Under **Notifications**, add the email addresses that hear about the employee's bookings, and choose emails for confirmed bookings, cancelled bookings or both.

## Linked users and coaches [#linked-users-and-coaches]

**Linked user** connects an employee to the staff user who signs in as them, one user per employee. The person then sees their own day in the employee calendar and the phone agenda. With the coach role, they also book, reschedule and cancel on their own calendar and keep their own profile up to date. Read more in [Staff accounts and roles](/businesses/getting-started/staff-and-roles#coaches).

## Public staff profiles [#public-staff-profiles]

People book people. A face, a name and two lines about the person make a first booking at an unfamiliar venue feel safer, and a certified coach or an instructor who speaks Swedish gives a customer a reason to pick you.

Turn on **Show on venue pages** on the employee's public profile, then choose where the profile shows: on every venue page of your company, including venues you add later, or at the venues where the person works.

Your venue page gets a staff tab with its first public profile. Name the tab what your customers call your staff, such as Coaches or Trainers, and set the order of the profiles for every venue.

The tab shows a card for each person with their photo, title and what they have coming up. A profile lists the person's upcoming classes, the courses where they are the main instructor and the services they give, with the next free times. Every item leads to booking.

### Profiles that help a new customer choose [#profiles-that-help-a-new-customer-choose]

- A portrait with the face in the top half, because the card crops it.
- A title under the name, such as "Pilates instructor".
- An intro for someone who has never met the person: who they are, and who they like to teach.
- A qualification such as "STOTT Pilates certified", which says more than "experienced instructor".
- The languages each person speaks. A customer who picks a language sees those people first.
