Sending invoices and getting paid

Thril emails your invoices, customers pay online through a payment link, and reminders go out one by one or in bulk. Recording bank transfers and part payments, and handing an invoice to Amili.

Thril emails your invoices as PDFs. The customer pays through a payment link or by bank transfer, and Thril keeps the open balance up to date. Overdue invoices get reminders, and an invoice that stays unpaid can go to debt collection.

This page covers Thril's own invoicing. For an invoice in Netvisor or Amili, that system sends it, chases it and records its payments. See Invoices in Netvisor and Amili.

Getting invoices paid

Invoices paid straight from the email. Turn on Online payment on invoices. The customer pays from the email, and the invoice turns Paid by itself.

Reminders for overdue invoices. Select every overdue invoice and Send reminders. A workflow with the Overdue invoice reminders template sends two reminders a week apart and then gives staff a task to call.

A club that pays in instalments. Record each transfer on the invoice as it arrives. The open balance shrinks, and the invoice turns Paid with the last one.

An invoice paid at the POS. A customer who comes in with an open invoice pays it at the POS, where open invoices are listed under Unpaid activities.

Sending

Send invoice emails the customer the invoice as a PDF. The PDF carries your bank details, the reference number and a barcode, or the payment link if the invoice offers online payment. Download PDF gives you the same file to print or post yourself. For e-invoices, export Download invoices as Finvoice XML or use Netvisor.

Thril sends to the email address on the customer or the company customer.

Days until due sets the due date from the invoicing date.

Online payment

With Online payment on invoices on in the Invoicing settings, every invoice email, PDF and reminder carries a link. The customer opens it without signing in, sees the invoice lines and pays the open balance. A PDF with the link leaves out your bank details.

The setting is your company's default. Online payment on the invoice itself overrides it for that invoice, on or off.

Copy payment link gives you the link to send another way, such as in a chat. The customer can pay through it while the invoice is owed and offers online payment. New payment link replaces it, and emails and PDFs sent from then on carry the new one. Turning online payment on or off changes what you send from then on.

An online payment is a Stripe payment like any other. Thril's commission comes off it, and it arrives in your Stripe payouts. Lines marked Payable with an employee benefit can be paid with an employee benefit, the rest with the customer's own payment method.

Reminders

Send reminder on an invoice, or Send reminders on a selection, emails the customer the amount due, the due date and the reference number. The invoice becomes Reminded.

Reminders go to invoices that are sent and still owed, also in Netvisor or Amili. Amili sends its own reminders on its own schedule.

An invoice that stays unpaid after your reminders goes to Amili for debt collection, or you mark it Credit loss.

Recording payments

A Thril invoice records a payment four ways:

How the customer paidWhat you do
Through the payment linkNothing. The payment lands on the invoice.
At the POSNothing. The POS records it.
Bank transfer, in fullMark as paid on the invoice, or on a selection of invoices.
Bank transfer, in partAdd the amount and date on the invoice's Transactions. The rest stays open.

Staff record bank transfers from your bank statement. Mark as paid works on Thril invoices with an open balance.

You can edit or delete a payment you recorded by hand. A payment made online or at the POS goes back through a refund where it was made.

For a Netvisor or Amili invoice, payments come back from that system. A payment taken in Thril, at the POS or by hand, goes to that system with the invoice.
