POS

Thril POS sells products, memberships, session cards, credits, gift cards and unpaid bookings on site in one till, paid by card, cash, invoice or your own payment methods, with split bills and refunds.

Thril POS is the till where your staff sell on site. It runs on the same customers, products and bookings as your app and web shop. A customer who walks in to pay for tonight's class, buy a drink and top up their credits does it in one sale. The booking shows as paid the moment the card goes through.

Thril POS is a paid add-on. Ask Thril support to turn it on for your company, then switch it on for each venue with POS status in the POS settings.

Everything you sell on site in one till

Payments for bookings. Unpaid reservations, service bookings and open invoices wait in the POS under Unpaid activities. A customer who booked by phone pays when they arrive. From a reservation in the calendar, Move to POS adds it straight to a sale.

A café or pro shop counter. Your shop products, rentals and extras sit in a grid by category. A barcode scanner adds a product by its EAN. Manage catalog menu groups the grid your own way, such as a Café category with drinks first, and every till at the venue shares it.

Selling memberships and passes face to face. Memberships, session cards, credit products and gift cards sell at the POS the same way as online, and land in the customer's wallet.

A tab for a group. Open a sale, give it a label such as "Lane 3" or "Table 5", and add items during the visit. Several sales stay open side by side. When the group leaves, Split session divides the bill into even parts or custom shares, and each person pays their part with their own method.

Benefit cards read on the provider's terminal. Add the benefit provider's terminal or app as a custom payment method and mark it as an Employee benefit payment method. Staff can take it for any item at the till and check that the benefit covers the purchase. Netvisor books its payments as employee benefits, and credits bought with it pay only for items that accept employee benefits.

Sessions

Every sale is a session. A session can have a named customer, a company customer for invoicing, or a guest. With a named customer:

  • The sale can use the customer's credits and session cards, and the products sold go to their wallet.
  • The receipt goes to the customer's email automatically, unless the whole sale was paid by invoice.
  • The sale shows in the customer's history and in statistics.

Sales happen during an open shift. One shift covers the whole venue, and with cash payments on, staff count the cash when they open and close it. See Shifts and cash.

For something not in your catalog, Add custom item takes a name and a price, taxed at the Default custom item tax rate from the POS settings.

Discounts come in two kinds: a promo code from your promo codes, and a Custom discount of a percentage or an amount, with the name the customer sees on the receipt. A gift card is a payment, and the customer pays with it through Pay with a gift card. See Gift cards.

Payment methods

You choose the payment methods under Settings → POS → Payment methods.

MethodWhat it is
Card paymentsCards and contactless phones on a Stripe Terminal card terminal. See Devices.
Cash paymentsCash with drawer accounting.
InvoicingThe customer pays later on an invoice, which waits unsent on the Invoices page until you send it. Choose whether POS invoices go to Thril's own invoicing or to your connected Netvisor or Amili. See Invoices.
Custom payment methodsAnything else you accept, under your own name: a benefit provider's terminal, a partner voucher, a bank transfer. Thril records it and counts it on the shift, and the money comes to you directly.

Credits, session cards and gift cards come off the total before the customer pays.

Card payments on the terminal arrive in your Stripe payouts, minus Thril's commission. See Stripe payouts.

Refunds at the POS

Every POS sale is listed under POS payments, with its payment methods, payer and receipt. You refund from there: the whole sale, chosen rows, or part of a row, such as two of five drinks or a custom amount. A row can be refunded again until nothing is left. POS sales reach the VAT report and statistics like online payments.

A card refund at the POS has no refund fee. By default the money goes back the way it came: Return to original payment methods. You can choose another method instead, such as cash for a card payment, or credits for a named customer. Two things go back whole:

  • A gift card. Refunding it voids the card and pays back only what is left on it. See Gift cards.
  • A session card use. The use returns to the card.

Refunding a sale paid by invoice creates a credit note on that invoice for the refunded amount. If the customer has already paid the invoice, you pay them back yourself. See Corrections and credit notes.

The receipt of a sale can be downloaded, printed or sent by email again from the sale, and the customer's Receipts tab holds every receipt of a named customer.

Reset & refund refunds everything and reopens the sale for editing. Use it when the sale went to the wrong customer, or when someone else should have been invoiced.
