Importing credit balances
Customers' credit balances move from a previous system with one CSV file, with an expiry date for each balance.
The credit import brings the balances your customers have in another system into Thril. One CSV file can hold every customer's balance, and a customer can have several rows when parts of the balance expire on different dates. Each row adds credits to the customer.
For one or two customers, add the credits by hand. See Manual credit adjustments and VAT.
Columns
On the Credit products page, open More actions and choose Import credit balances. Download sample CSV shows the format. One row is one balance.
| Column | What it does |
|---|---|
| Finds the customer by email. Required unless the row has a name. | |
| name | Finds the customer by first and last name, when the row has no email. |
| credits | The balance in your company's currency, such as 50.00. A column called balance or amount works too. |
| expires_at | The day the credits expire. Leave it empty for credits that never expire. expiry date or valid until work too. |
Thril reads 2030-12-31, 31.12.2030 and other common date formats. Imported credits are spent in the usual order. See Expiry and spend order.
Customers
The import adds credits to your existing customers. Import new people first. See Importing customers. A row with an email matches the customer with that exact email. A row without one matches on first and last name, and when several customers share the name, you choose the right one.
Review and confirm
The review step shows every row before anything is saved. Change a row's customer, amount or expiry date there, or remove the row. Confirm import saves all rows at once. One file holds up to 5,000 rows.
VAT on imported credits
Imported credits come in as Non-taxable gift, with Paid with set to Regular payment. To charge VAT when a customer spends a balance, add those credits by hand as Standard VAT on use. See The credit type.
Manual credit adjustments and VAT
Staff add or subtract a customer's credits by hand for compensation, gifts or payments taken outside Thril, and the credit type decides whether VAT is charged when the credits are spent.
Gift cards
Gift cards sell online and at the POS, can carry a bonus, and work as compensation or prizes. The Cards tab shows what is still owed on them.
