Manual credit adjustments and VAT
Staff add or subtract a customer's credits by hand for compensation, gifts or payments taken outside Thril, and the credit type decides whether VAT is charged when the credits are spent.
Staff add and subtract credits on the customer's Credits tab: after a session the venue had to cut short, for a top-up paid at your old till, or as a thank-you to a regular. The customer sees the new balance straight away, and the reason you write stays with the transaction for your staff.
The credit type decides whether VAT is charged when the credits are spent. Credits from a top-up always carry VAT on use.
Compensate, record outside payments and fix mistakes
Compensation. Add €20 as Non-taxable gift, with an expiry two months out. The customer spends the credits without VAT being charged again, and the expiry gives them a reason to come back soon.
A top-up paid at your own terminal. The customer paid €50 outside Thril, and no VAT was charged. Add €50 as Standard VAT on use with Paid with set to Regular payment.
A benefit payment taken outside Thril. The customer paid with Epassi at your old terminal. Add the credits with Paid with set to Employee benefit.
Fixing a mistake. Subtract the credits from the wrong customer and add them to the right one. The same works for changing the type or expiry of credits already added.
The credit type
| Situation | Type | Spending the credits |
|---|---|---|
| Compensation, or a present from the venue | Non-taxable gift | No VAT, like a discount |
| A payment taken outside Thril without VAT, such as a top-up at your own terminal | Standard VAT on use | VAT at the rate of what they buy |
| A payment taken outside Thril that already included VAT | Non-taxable gift, at your own discretion | No VAT |
Credits from top-ups, refunds, welcome offers, membership benefits and workflows get the right type automatically. Imported balances come in as Non-taxable gift.
Paid with
At venues in Finland, Sweden, Estonia and Latvia, an addition also asks Paid with: Regular payment or Employee benefit. Choose Employee benefit when the money came from Epassi, Edenred, Stebby or a similar benefit. Those credits pay for products marked Payable with an employee benefit.
Many customers at once
To give credits to many customers, use a workflow or a welcome offer.
Credits and credit top-ups
Customers top up a prepaid balance and spend it at your venue like money. Top-ups can give a bonus, expire on a date and pay for almost everything you sell.
Importing credit balances
Customers' credit balances move from a previous system with one CSV file, with an expiry date for each balance.
