Reservation and event restrictions
Restrictions cap how many reservations and event registrations a member can hold, and decide whether a member past the limit is blocked or pays the standard price.
Restrictions set how far a member price goes: how many reservations or events a member can have coming up, how many per week or billing period, and what happens past the limit. A golf simulator venue keeps members from holding every evening slot. A yoga studio whose membership includes every class lets members hold one upcoming class at a time.
Add them on the Benefits & restrictions step, under Reservation restrictions and Event restrictions. A membership can have several of each, with their own scope and limits.
Reservation restrictions
Which reservations this applies to narrows a restriction to weekdays, times of day, sports or resources. Empty, it covers every reservation. A reservation that overlaps the scope counts. With evening hours of 16:00–21:00, a 15:30–17:00 booking is an evening booking.
A restriction sets at least one limit:
- Maximum upcoming reservations, counted until each reservation starts.
- Maximum reservations per period, per day, week, month or billing period.
- Maximum booked time per period, the same in hours.
- Maximum overlapping reservations, such as one to let a member book one resource at a time.
When a member reaches the limit picks Block the reservation or Charge the standard price. Charging lets the member book at your normal price, shown before booking, while everything inside the limit keeps the member price. Charge when the limit keeps a membership from turning into cheap unlimited booking. Block when the limit protects the schedule.
A "Prime time" restriction on weekdays 16:00–21:00 with 6 reservations per billing period, 2 upcoming reservations and Charge the standard price lets members book prime time at the member price up to their sixth reservation of the billing period, and at your normal price after that. Mornings and weekends stay as they are.
A blocking restriction on upcoming reservations replaces Max simultaneous future reservations per user from your reservation settings for its members. With a venue limit of 3 and a membership allowing 5, members hold 5.
Event restrictions
Which events this applies to narrows a restriction by event type, sport, event category, weekday and time of day. Empty, it covers every event, including tournaments and scheduled classes. Course classes are paid through their course and stay outside event restrictions.
A restriction sets at least one limit:
- Maximum upcoming registrations.
- Maximum registrations per period, per day, week, month or billing period.
- Maximum overlapping events.
Block the registration refuses the registration and the waiting list. Charge the standard price lets the member register at the event's own price. Registrations paid with a session card don't use the allowance. When a membership no longer covers an event, the event shows the membership, how much of the allowance is used and when the member price returns.
Several memberships
A booking gets the best price any of the member's memberships gives. When one allowance is spent and another has room, the booking goes through at that membership's price. A blocking restriction applies unless another membership blocks the same limit with a higher number. The same goes for external memberships with restrictions.
Staff bookings and allowances
Staff can book for a member past any restriction, and so can recurring reservations and waiting list promotions. These bookings use the member's allowance and are priced by it. The member's remaining allowance is in their details in the members list, and members see their own in the app and on the web.
A paused membership gives no member prices and no restrictions while the pause lasts.
Membership benefits
Members get their own reservation and service prices, credits or a session card on every renewal, earlier booking and discounts on other products.
Renewals and payments
Recurring memberships renew on a billing cycle and charge the member's card automatically. Staff follow up unpaid renewals and change prices and renewal dates for current members.
