Date-based pauses
A date-based pause suspends a member's benefits for exact dates on recurring and one-time memberships, and can also pause payments and extend the membership.
A date-based pause suspends a member's benefits for an exact range of dates, such as a holiday, an injury or a spell abroad. It works on recurring and one-time memberships and can start on any day. Schedule it with Pause by dates on the Pauses tab under Manage member. Both dates count. A 1–7 July pause is seven days, and benefits return on 8 July.
Payments and extension
Pause recurring payments skips every renewal whose due date falls inside the pause. The whole renewal is skipped. A pause from 10 to 16 August over a renewal on 12 August skips the August renewal, a full month. A pause from 2 to 20 August between renewals on 1 and 31 August skips nothing.
Extend the membership by the paused time gives the paused days back. A one-time membership's end date moves when the pause ends. A recurring membership adds the days free of charge after its last paid period when it ends.
| Payments | Extended | What the member gets |
|---|---|---|
| Continue | No | No benefits during the pause. Billing and the end date stay as they were |
| Continue | Yes | Billing continues, and the paused days are added free at the end |
| Paused | No | Renewals due during the pause are skipped. No days are added |
| Paused | Yes | Renewals due during the pause are skipped, and the paused days are added free at the end |
Contracts and minimum commitments
A skipped renewal counts as a contract period, and on a minimum commitment as a served commitment period. Saved days add up into one extension at the end. A contract ending on 1 December with two pauses that saved 7 and 4 days ends on 12 December.
On an open-ended membership the saved days come after the member cancels and the notice period is paid. To move the end of a minimum commitment instead, use a period-based pause with Extend the minimum commitment.
Ending a pause early
A pause that hasn't started can be deleted. An active pause can be ended early: benefits return straight away, the days that passed are saved, and skipped renewals stay skipped. When the member cancels, a payment pause ends and the notice period is charged. The days already earned are saved.
Membership pauses
A pause suspends one member's benefits for set dates or skips whole billing periods, and its settings decide what happens to payments, contracts and door access.
Period-based pauses
A period-based pause skips whole billing periods of a recurring membership, and the skipped periods either count toward the contract or minimum commitment or extend it.
