Importing customers

Your customer base comes into Thril from a CSV file, Playtomic, MATCHi, Sweetspot, DigitalBooker, Cintoia or WisePlatform, with credits, memberships, consent and history.

An import brings your customers to Thril with their contact details, marketing consent, credit balance, membership and the history that makes them regulars. Customers who already use Thril are linked to their existing account, and the rest get one. When a customer signs in with that email, everything you imported is there.

Start from Import CSV in the actions menu of Customers. Company customers and upcoming bookings have imports of their own.

What an import brings over

A customer base from another booking system. Export the customers from your old system and pick it as the source. Thril reads the systems listed under File formats.

A spreadsheet of your own. Any CSV file reads the column names and the values and works out what each column holds. You check the guess and correct it before anything is imported.

Prepaid balances. A credits column and an expiry date carry each customer's balance over, as Credits and memberships explains.

Members. A membership column gives each customer the Thril membership with that exact name.

History. Lifetime value, reservation count and event count arrive as the customer's baselines, in place of past payments.

File formats

Thril reads customer exports from Sweetspot, DigitalBooker, Playtomic, Cintoia, MATCHi and WisePlatform. Save a MATCHi XLS export as CSV first. The Thril format carries the most data, and its example file lists the columns. Any CSV file takes any columns, and you check how Thril matched them before you import.

Every row needs an email and a first name or a full name.

The preview

The preview shows every row as Thril will import it, and which of your memberships each name matched. Rows that fail, such as a row without a valid email, are listed apart with the reason and skipped, and the rest import.

When a row's email belongs to an existing customer, the import updates that customer's consent, notes and baselines. Credits add up on every import. Bring each balance in once.

An import sends nothing to customers. Workflows and welcome offer gifts start from what customers do after it.

Credits and memberships

  • Credits arrive as gift credits, untaxed when spent. They pay for anything credits pay for.
  • Memberships are matched by their exact name in Thril. The imported member gets the membership's own validity, starting on the day of the import, and the membership counts as paid. A membership with fixed dates keeps its dates. A member of a recurring membership renews one billing period after the import, with a payment request in the app.

For members whose own end dates, first renewal in Thril or recurring billing should carry over, use membership import.
